Sir Charles Court Young Leadership Program

The Sir Charles Court Young Leaders Program is a joint initiative of Curtin University of Technology and the History Teachers Association of WA. It is open to all year 10 students in the State.

Each year 30 students who have demonstrated academic ability, particularly in the humanities, an interest in history, leadership potential and involvement in their communities, are selected. They attend an intensive and stimulating four day residential program at Curtin during the July holidays.

The first program ran in 1999. There are now 270 graduates of the program who have formed a vigorous network of the leaders of the future. The first Sir Charles Court Young Leaders Alumni conference was held in May 2004.

The program is based on the shared ideals of Sir Charles Court and John Curtin: Vision, Leadership and Community. Participants are exposed to a number of inspirational and challenging speakers and situations. They are challenged and invigorated, and learn to see themselves as others see them: as Young Leaders. They return to their schools and communities and build on the experiences of the program.
